Gateway plans NT workstations

The PC maker by year's end will deliver a series of NT workstations powered by 266-MHz and 300-MHz Pentium II processors.

Gateway 2000 (GTW) announced it will deliver a series of NT workstations based on the Intel Pentium II processor by the end of this year.

The workstations will fit into the high end of the recently announced E-series and will support dual 266-MHz and 300-MHz processors.

The new line, which will take advantage of the growth in Microsoft Windows NT Workstation-based systems, will use hardware and software from AccelGraphics to boost graphics performance and will implement the Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) interface championed by Intel.

Pricing information was not available. The systems will ship sometime in the fourth quarter, according to the company.
