Gateway joins up with Army, Air Force

Gateway is in the army now. The Poway, Calif., PC maker on Wednesday said it has begun selling PCs via the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, or AAFES, an organization that operates stores for military personnel and their families.

As part of its relationship with the service, Gateway is now stocking three of its PCs on the shelves of 52 AAFES stores. The models are the lower-priced Gateway 300 series desktop, the midpriced 500 series desktop and the 400 series notebook. Over time, the computer maker plans to offer its PCs--and possibly some of its consumer electronics products--via the service's online store and also at additional locations, including many stores at bases outside the United States.
