Poway, Calif.-based Gateway said that Scott Edwards is joining the company as executive vice president in charge of consumer-related sales and marketing efforts for Gateway. David Turner will have similar duties for the business segment as a senior vice president at the company.
"By combining Scott's extensive knowledge of consumer behavior and customer relationship management with David's vast knowledge of the company's business and institutional space, we are creating a powerful force that will help drive Gateway into the future," Ted Waitt, chief executive of Gateway, said in a statement.
The company did not return calls for comment.
The announcements are part of a larger organizational overhaul. As, Gateway is looking to fill new executive positions and is introducing cost-saving measures as part of a plan to hone its sales strategy. The company is not planning layoffs, but may relocate or close some of its retail outlets.
Despitepositive holiday sales results for other PC makers, Gateway was not able to measure up through the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Waitt attendees at a conference Dec. 4 that unless sales improved soon, the company could be forced to cut its fourth-quarter outlook.
