While speculation has been rampant about what season 6 of HBO's smash series "Game of Thrones" will bring to our screens, actual facts have been few. Judging by the brand-new teaser for the new season, "You know nothing" is a phrase the show's still attached to.
The 41-second-long tease, in fact, is really just a super-fast montage of previous scenes. But, as any politician who engages in The Game knows, you can learn much from looking at the past. So what can we suss out here?
Well, as most fans know, it seems like the next season is going to spend a lot of time on the epic battle with the White Walkers. Nearly a full half of the video shows a shot of Jon Snow from last season looking back at the destruction the Walkers have unleashed on Hardhome as the voice over begins, "We watch, we listen and we remember." Also, although it's coming as a surprise to no one at this point, that much time spent on Snow -- like this poster that was recently released -- certainly seems to imply that he'll be back in season 6.
That voiceover comes from Max von Sydow's Three-Eyed Raven, which is a kind of spirit animal for Bran Stark, so maybe the little bird or Snow's half-brother will have something to do with it. More than likely, what the bird is signaling is a return to the plotline involving the younger Stark, which was completely absent from season 5. In fact, the teaser ends with Bran in the white-eyed trance from which he can control his giant guardian, Hodor so, yeah, Bran is back.
In the 10 seconds between Snow's brooding and Bran's whiteout there's quite a recap of the death-loving series so far, including: Jon Snow's stabbing; Eddard Stark's beheading; Catelyn Stark's throat-cutting; and Joffrey Baratheon's poisoning. There are also shots of the khaleesi next to one of her dragons; a White Walker caressing a baby's face with its fingernail; Littlefinger giving a nasty kiss to Sansa Stark; the Three-Eyed Raven just perching and a few other gems you'll have to spot yourself. (It's possible with lots of quick hits on the Pause button.)
The focus on the Starks here might also be a clue that in addition to Bran, the season might be looking to bring that family back to center stage, dethroning -- in a manner of speaking -- the Lannisters.
So, not a whole lot to go on here, but there is a promise at the end of the video. "They have no idea what's going to happen," says Bran. That's for sure.
