Nintendo said Friday it will increase the number of shipments of its upcoming handheld gaming device, the Game Boy Advance, in Japan from 1 million units to 1.1 million. The new device is set to debut later this month in Japan and will launch in the United States in June. The increase comes in light of the already strong demand from Japanese retailers, Nintendo said. More than 100 million Game Boy handhelds have been sold since their introduction 11 years ago. The successor is expected to have a faster processor, higher resolution, more colors and Internet capabilities.
