Research firm DisplaySearch reported strong growth in the market for small and medium-sized display screens--used in devices such as cell phones, digital cameras and PDAs--during the second quarter of 2002. In a report published Wednesday, the company said unit shipments in the quarter increased 20.3 percent year-over-year, to 114 million units. Revenue grew 15.1 percent, to $1.4 billion.

Growth was strongest in the PDA (personal digital assistant) and digital camera markets, which showed respective revenue growth of 40 percent and 17 percent. "DisplaySearch forecasts that growth will continue through the remainder of the year," the company said in a statement.
