Fujitsu unveils light notebooks

Fujitsu has taken the wraps off two notebooks that weigh less than 3 pounds each. The Loox S and Loox T, which at are aimed at the Japanese market, are on display this week at Japan's World PC Expo 2001 in Tokyo. Fujitsu has yet to announced prices or shipping dates. However, industry sources say the new Loox models will ship in November and are likely to use Transmeta's Crusoe TM 5500 and TM 5800 chips. Transmeta launched the pair of 0.13-micron chips in June. Transmeta has yet to get the chips into a notebook in the U.S. market, but sources suggest the chips will ship in notebooks in the United States in November.
