FreeMarkets, mineral miner ink deal

Business-to-business marketplace builder FreeMarkets on Wednesday said it signed a deal with mineral miner and processor Rio Tinto. As part of the agreement, the mining company will use FreeMarkets' online bidding technology and services to source goods and services for its global operations, the companies said in a joint statement. Based in London, Rio Tinto operates in 40 countries and mines minerals and metals including aluminum, copper and gold.
