Sick of losing Wi-Fi signal in the back bedroom? If your Internet connection needs a boost, the new Sky Wireless Booster helps you log on in those hard-to-reach places -- and it's free throughout January.

Sky reckons more than a third of UK homes have a Wi-Fi blackspot, a part of their home that the Internet cannot penetrate. And with the average Sky customer sharing their home with a whopping seven Internet-connected devices, that's a problem.

The solution is the new Booster, a small white box that extends the reach of your router.

Sky claims the Booster doubles the Wi-Fi range of the hubs provided by TalkTalk, Virgin Media and BT Unlimited Broadband, but of course the real results will depend on your home.

The Wi-Fi booster is free from Boxing Day to 30 January, for a limited time. It's available to both new and existing customers who struggle with Wi-Fi signal in parts of your home -- head to sky.com/mysky to apply for one.

To get going you pair the booster box with your Sky Hub. An LED light on the box helps you find the best position for the booster.

You don't need a Booster to improve your Wi-Fi: to maximise signal, make sure your router is near to the centre of your home, and ideally placed higher up with as few walls and floors as possible between router and PC. If your devices support it, try switching from 2.4GHz to the less crowded 5GHz. And if you live in a built-up areas with lots of Wi-Fi signals flying around, try finding a less congested wireless channel.
