
Infinity Blade 2 leads an assortment of free apps and free games you can grab for nought pounds and noughty pence as the Apple App Store prepares for its 5th birthday.
A selection of popular iOS games and apps are now free "for a limited time", apparently celebrating five years of Apple's iTunes App Store for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Games on offer for nowt include Where's My Water?, Badland and Tiny Wings for both iPhone and iPad. Gratis apps include Day One, Over and Barefoot World Atlas.
To give you an idea of the savings on offer, Traktor DJ for iPad is usually £14, and the slicey-dicey Infinity Blade 2 usually slashes just a penny's change from a fiver.
It hasn't been confirmed why the popular apps have seen their prices fall away to zero, but it seems highly likely to be tied to the App Store's fifth birthday on Wednesday.
The iOS App Store launched on 10 July 2008, just in time for the iPhone 3G. Nowadays apps are so central to the smart phone experience it seems strange to think the original iPhone, launched on 29 June 2007, went a whole year without an app store, or 3G for that matter.
