Foxtel has announced the impending launch of Presto, a new service that will allow users to stream movies from several of its film channels for a monthly subscription, both live and on-demand.

The service will launch on 13 March, and will cost AU$19.99 per month, with no lock-in contract. It will offer films from all seven of Foxtel's film channels: Foxtel Movies Premiere, Foxtel Movies Comedy, Foxtel Movies Romance, Foxtel Movies Thriller, Foxtel Movies Action, Foxtel Movies Family and Foxtel Movies Masterpiece.

The service will also allow movie rentals for an additional fee per title. Movies can be streamed to Mac, PC and compatible iPads.

Foxtel CEO Richard Freudenstein said, "Australians are hungry for different ways to experience great entertainment when they want and how they want. The launch of Presto as a second brand allows us to meet the needs of different customer segments more effectively and is another way Foxtel is continuing to make its content more accessible... Presto is the next major step in offering customers a product that's just right for them."

New customers signing up for the service will be offered a special deal of AU$4.99 for their first month, after which the subscription will be full price. You can choose to unsubscribe at any time, although Foxtel notes in the fine print that ongoing subscription fees will apply if the customer does not cancel their subscription.

You can sign up for more information as it becomes available on the Presto website.
