Former top cybercop goes back to school

Michael A. Vatis, the former director of the National Infrastructure Protection Center (NIPC), is off to Dartmouth College to head up the school's Institute for Security Technology Studies (ISTS). Before heading NIPC, Vatis served as associate deputy attorney general and deputy director of the executive office for National Security with the Justice Department from 1994 to 1998. Dartmouth's ISTS researches network security technology and is funded by the Justice Department. The center researches attacks on information infrastructure in all forms with a particular focus on best practices and the development of new security tools and defense techniques.
