Flash sale: Beats Powerbeats 4 slashed to $80, lowest price ever (Update: Expired)
The wireless-with-a-cord sport headphone was a tough sell at $150, but this big discount makes it worth a look -- especially with Mother's Day approaching.
About a year ago, CNET's David Carnoy reviewed the Beats Powerbeats 4 and had a hard time reconciling them with their $150 price tag. Although they've been selling for around $120 the last few months, today's sale is historic.
For a limited time, and while supplies last, Amazon has the Beats Powerbeats 4 (black) for $80, the lowest price on record by a considerable margin.
Designed with active users in mind, the Powerbeats 4 (which are just called "Powerbeats" but are, in fact, a fourth-generation product) combine an in-ear design with over-the-ear hooks and a wire connecting the two earpieces.

There are advantages and disadvantages to that, of course. As someone who has inadvertently swatted a true-wireless earbud out of his ear and sent it flying, I like the corded option. But it's also noticeably "there" when you're running.
Anyway, read Carnoy's review to learn more, or watch his video below. You should also note that over 8,500 Amazon customers collectively rated the Powerbeats 4.6 stars out of 5 -- a pretty healthy endorsement.
Only the black version is currently available at this price; the white and red models are each selling for around $114.
Still, if you're seeking a Mother's Day gift for an active mom, this is definitely worth a look. So is this: the Apple Beats Flex are back on sale for the lowest price ever, $40 (save 20%).
