Get ready to boldly go where no man has gone before, again. Paramount Pictures released the first trailer for "Star Trek Beyond" on December 14, and Captain Kirk and company seem to be in for quite a challenge.
In the clip, Kirk watches from an escape pod as the Enterprise is destroyed, sending him and the rest of his crew crashing to the planet below. "We have no ship, no crew -- how are we going to get out of this one?" Kirk asks, followed by Spock responding, "We will find hope in the impossible."
And the odds do look close to impossible for the crew, who face deadly, destructive enemies that will attempt to take down the crew of the Enterprise.
"Star Trek Beyond" is directed by "Fast & Furious" director Justin Lin, and it shows -- the trailer really feels like that kind of high-energy action-spectacle take on the Star Trek universe.
The film is produced by J.J. Abrams and has a star-studded cast including Idris Elba and the returning lineup of Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Simon Pegg and Anton Yelchin.
The movie will show in many countries worldwide and is coming to theaters in the UK and the US on July 22, 2016. No release date for Australia has been announced.
