It all started late last year when the first teaser for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" opened with the whispered words "Lumos maxima." All these months later, we now have an official full trailer, even though it's mere seconds longer than the teasers that came before. "The Ellen Show" posted the first look on Wednesday, and there's plenty of magic to go around.
The teasers laid out the basic premise for the Harry Potter prequel and spin-off from author J.K. Rowling: Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) arrives in New York in the 1920s with a suitcase full of magical creatures. Not surprisingly, some of them escape to wreak havoc.
The new trailer hints at cultural conflict between Scamander's English wizarding upbringing and the way wizards behave themselves in America. Muggles in the US, for example, are called "no-majs" for "no-magic."
Colin Farrell's character Percival Graves gets a bigger role in this trailer, saying, "We've lived in the shadows too long." There's a wizarding war a-brewing, and we'll be looking to Scamander and his case full of critters for help.
Harry Potter fans have longed to return to Rowling's wizarding world on the big screen. The latest trailer will just fuel that fire. "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" opens in theaters worldwide in November.
