We don't know much about Final Fantasy 7 Remake's elusive sequel, but we'll probably learn more in June.

Last year Square Enix finally launched Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which isn't an actual remake of Final Fantasy 7 as much as the first release in the multi-part "Remake Project". The company has been tight-lipped on Remake's sequel, known tentatively as Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, but it looks like we'll learn more about it in the upcoming Intergrade DLC.

"Part 2's story will start right after the events of Intergrade," revealed the game's director, Tetsuya Nomura, at an event for the upcoming First Soldier battle royale game. In comments helpfully translated by a Twitter user, Nomura noted several times that development is going smoothly and also said "Cloud will be running around a lot of nature," which fans have taken to mean that Part 2 will be less linear that Remake.

Small details like these are big news for Final Fantasy fans, who are used to enduring long delays between games and years without any news. Final Fantasy 15 took 10 years to develop and there was 5 years between Final Fantasy 7 Remake's reveal and release, making some fans question how long the wait between Remake and Part 2 would be. Square Enix still hasn't confirmed how many games the Remake Project will be split into.

Launching June 10 for the PlayStation 5, Integrade is a package that includes a remastered version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and a new mission in which you play as Yuffie, a prominent character in the original who wasn't included in last year's Remake. The launch trailer for the game reveals story elements for Yuffie's mission, combat featuring her sidekick and new playable character Sonon Kusakabe, and a mini-game called Fort Condor. (This is no small detail, since mini games within Final Fantasy titles are often awesome.)

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is a free upgrade for players who own Remake on the PlayStation 4, although the new trailer stresses that those who downloaded the game for free as a PlayStation Plus perk don't count. A disclaimer at the trailer's end also noted that the game will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive for six months, which could mean Yuffie's mission will become available to PS4 owners -- or that the entire game will migrate to Xbox.
