FileMaker updates database software

FileMaker announced the availability of FileMaker Pro 5.5 Unlimited, the latest version of the company's database software. The new version includes several improvements for creating Web-accessible databases, including FileMaker Pro Web Companion, for publishing databases instantly to an intranet or the Internet, and the Java-based FileMaker Web Server Connector, for improved performance, load balancing and data security on servers running Apache or Microsoft Internet Information Server software. The program sells for $999 for the full version and $499 for those upgrading from an earlier version.
