Looks like the rumor was true after all -- Google's flagship smartphone, the Nexus 5, is sporting a new red hue, and users can buy it today at the Play Store.

We most recently caught wind of the possibility of a crimson color last week, when an internal Sprint memo detailing a red Nexus was leaked online.

However, the new shade has gone official now that users can purchase it at the Play Store.

It's still available unlocked for $349 (16GB) and $399 (32GB). Other colors include black and white, and Google sells phone bumpers in gray, yellow, and red as well.

When we reviewed the phone back in November, we were impressed by its impressive construction, sharp screen, and clear call quality. In addition, its price point makes it one of the cheapest high-quality unlocked phones in the market.
