Fender appeals to guitarists online

Guitar maker Fender Musical Instruments has launched a new Web site for guitar players, featuring articles, videos, song transcriptions and interactive music lessons. Beginners and seasoned pros, for instance, can learn how to strum their favorite guitar licks or play along with songs through accompanying audio clips. Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Fender said its site features popular guitar riffs such as Jeff Beck's "People Get Ready," Pink Floyd's "Money," Eric Clapton's "Lay Down Sally," and James Jamerson's bass line from Marvin Gaye's "I Heard It Through the Grapevine." The site also offers biographies, accessories, books and videos; the company hopes to add new songs, artists and lessons as well as feature articles on topics including copyrights issues. Fender said it partnered with print music publisher Hal Leonard to develop the site. Founded in 1946, Fender is known for its guitars, amplifiers and related equipment such as the Fender Precision Bass and Jazz Bass, Fender Telecaster and Stratocaster electric guitars.
