FedEx unveiled a wireless offering Monday, saying customers can gain access to FedEx.com on most handheld devices. The new service allows customers to track shipments, learn pickup times and get directions to the nearest drop-off location. Memphis, Tenn.-based FedEx said its new wireless effort will cut costs and increase productivity as much of the company's 50,000 couriers and contractors begin communicating with their dispatchers even when they are away from their vans. The service is free.
