Feb. 13 hearing scheduled for Verizon case

WASHINGTON--A federal judge hearing a copyright dispute between Verizon Communications and record labels has scheduled a hearing on Feb. 13 in Washington, DC. On Friday, U.S. District Judge John Bates released a schedule in response to Verizon's request for a stay of his Jan. 21 order that would reveal the identity of an alleged peer-to-peer pirate to the Recording Industry Assocation of America. Bates gave the RIAA until Feb. 7 to respond to Verizon's request to put his decision on hold, and Verizon until Feb. 11 to reply. Separately, Verizon has appealed Bates' decision to the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
