What to expect in F9.

Universal Pictures

Fast and Furious and... Dinosaurs? Along with a new trailer for the ninth instalment in the Fast & Furious franchise, called F9, director Justin Lin attended a virtual press conference, where he entertained the idea of the franchise crossing over to Jurassic World.

"Well, I've never said never to anything," Lin said at the press conference on whether he'd handle a crossover. "And the fact that part of our philosophy is not to ever be boxed in or labeled. And that's all I will say."

Universal Studios is the home of both the Fast & Furious flicks and the Jurassic Park films. Michelle Rodriguez, who plays Letty in the high octane franchise, could see the brand merge working.

"Once you reach a certain pinnacle, there's nowhere to go but to cross brand and merge, it's what big corporations do with each other when they get too big, you know what I mean?" she said. "You just have to brand and merge with each other. But the only thing standing in the way is lawyers and studios. Because, usually the brands that you're trying to merge belong to different studios or whatever. But it's under the same umbrella. I don't know. I'm just saying. It works."

Multiple coronavirus-related delays pushed F9's scheduled release from 2020 through to a seemingly solid June 25, 2021, release date. F9 will see the return of Sung Kang's Han, along with Vin Diesel, Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren and John Cena.
