Facebook tattoo reveals stunt behind 152 friends inked on girl's arm

Take a look at your Facebook friends: are they friends for life? Would you go as far as committing them to your skin in a tattoo? A Dutch Facebooker has apparently done just that.

Take a look at your Facebook friends: are they friends for life? Would you go as far as committing them to your skin in a tattoo? A Dutch Facebooker has apparently done just that.

Mysterious Facebook user susyj87 reckons she gave the tattoo a lot of thought and only chose the people she cares most about, asking their permission to add their profile pictures to a grid taking up the full length of her arm. By focusing on only those loved ones who had real meaning for her, susyj87 managed to whittle it down to just 152 friends.

The sleeve was inked by Rotterdam tattooist Dex Moelker, who has since revealed the real story behind the 'tattoo'.

Sadly, it's a publicity stunt for Pretty Social, a site that puts your friends on furniture, bags, posters and other trinkets. The sleeve is in fact a transfer and will wash off in a few days.

Here's the video of the 'tattoo' being applied:

The video provoked lots of negative comments, but we applaud the idea -- hey, it takes all sorts, different strokes and all that. Tech tattoos for all! Then we'd know who the BlackBerry or Android or Zune fans are before we start talking to them.

It wouldn't be the first permanent homage to Mark Zuckerberg's network: auto-tuned loony tune T-Pain also has a Facebook-related tattoo, reading "You don't have to 'Like' me". And an Egyptian father recently named his baby 'Facebook', while an Israeli couple named their baby 'Like'.

For more tech-related tattoos, take a look at the geek tattoo pool on Flickr, or this group dedicated to Apple tattoos. Would you commemorate your friends on your body, or is this a tattoo too far? What tech logos or images would you be willing to set down in geek ink?

Hey, that gives us an idea: when we hit 10,000 fans on our official Facebook page, we're going to get every one of you tattooed all over our bodies. So get liking!
