Espial wins Delphi deal

Espial, an Ottawa, Canada-based company that makes Web browsers and software for handhelds and other small computers, has won a deal with Delphi Automotive Systems. Delphi will use Espial's Web browser, personal information manager and e-mail software in its in-car computer, the companies said Tuesday. Troy, Mich.-based Delphi will use a database program from PointBase and will incorporate Sun Microsystems' Java software, which shields higher-level programs, such as Web browsers or databases, from underlying details such as which CPU a system uses.
