Disney Infinity, a video game that brought toys to life, seemed to have a healthy following -- but in May 2016, Disney announced the franchise would be discontinued. Disney has now released further information on the shutdown, including several dates players will have to keep in mind, as many in-game features are coming to an end.

There are two currently active versions of the game, Infinity 2.0 and the newer Infinity 3.0. Both are getting shut down, but on different schedules. Starting July 29, new in-game purchases for iOS, Android, Amazon Fire devices, the Apple TV and Steam/PC versions of Disney Infinity 2.0 will no longer be available. This should let you keep previously purchased add-ons, but you can't get any new ones. In-game purchases for the Steam version of Infinity 3.0 for PC gamers will still be supported.

On September 30, 2016, the base Disney Infinity game will no longer be available. For Steam versions of Infinity 2.0 and 3.0, the game will remain functional as an offline experience, but all online features will be shut off.

Disney Infinity will be removed from the Apple TV App Store at the end of September. For users who manage to keep it installed, the game should be playable until March 3, 2017. The game's life on the Apple TV has been rocky, as this variant did not receive many updates.

For gamers who have the console versions of Infinity, community content such as uploaded creations for use in the game as well as online multiplayer are going away, but the ability to use play sets and figures offline will remain.

The end date for all remaining online and community features will be March 3, 2017 as well. Disney Infinity will continue to update its FAQ page and suggests users keep an eye on it for any changes.
