EMusic tunes in to Matador Records

Music site EMusic.com has signed a licensing and distribution deal with independent record label Matador Records. EMusic, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group, said that through the deal it will provide its subscribers with MP3 downloads from Matador, including tunes from Yo La Tengo, Superchunk and Belle & Sebastian. EMusic said new releases will be added over the next several months. EMusic currently offers a free 30-day trial of the subscription service on its EMusic Web site. In June, Universal completed its acquisition of EMusic, one of the online music pioneers selling MP3 downloads.
