EMC names software exec

Chris Gahagan has joined storage giant EMC to run a storage software group that will support the company's AutoIS initiative to let EMC's management software control non-EMC storage products. Gahagan, now senior vice president of storage infrastructure software at EMC, was the general manager of BMC Software's Enterprise Systems Management business group. Gahagan reports to Erez Ofer who was promoted in November to executive vice president of Open Software Operations as part of a reorganization to focus more on software.
