Mars has long been in Musk's sights, and SpaceX laid the groundwork last April with the unmanned "Red Dragon" mission, which hopes to land a probe on the Red Planet within the next few years. A manned expedition is next on the agenda, though SpaceX recently suffered a setback when a Falcon 9 rocket carrying an Israeli satellite exploded in early September during a routine rocket firing. SpaceX plans to resume launches in November.

SpaceX did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but we'll stay tuned to see what Mr. Musk has to say this weekend.
