4G marches on: EE has added 10 more towns to its extra-fast line-up, as well as doubling data speeds in Belfast, Newcastle and Southampton.

Adding to the towns and cities where you can get extra-fast data speeds on your phone or tablet, 4G is now available in Altrincham, Bedford, Camberley, Crawley, Farnborough, Farnham, Maidstone, Rochdale, Tonbridge and Welwyn Garden City.

And your maximum possible speed has now doubled if you use EE's 4G service in Belfast, Newcastle and Southampton.

As of today, EE's 4G LTE service covers 95 cities and towns, 15 of which benefit from double speeds. Double speeds are already available across the UK in cities including Edinburgh, Birmingham and that there London.

Although your actual everyday speed probably won't approach the new maximum, you should see a jump in performance. Increased speeds can, in theory, reach up to 150Mbps -- nearly twice the previous ceiling of 80Mbps -- but you can expect to get more like 24-30Mbps when you're out and about.

EE recently announced new 4G plans including pay as you go data, shared contracts, data-only plans and NFC payments to buy stuff with your phone.
