EDS scores $300 million deal

Electronic Data Systems scored a five-year services contract worth $300 million to provide Australian telecommunications giant Telstra help with software development and maintenance. Plano, Texas-based EDS intends to provide all applications development and maintenance of Telstra?s billing and shared services. All Telstra employees involved in the project will be offered positions with EDS. The professional services giant, which has enjoyed a recent winning spree, also extended a three-year, multimillion-dollar engagement with Canadian National Railway. The deal calls for EDS to manage the company?s personal computer support and help desk services across Canada and in the United States.
