EA's Sims 4 adds new restriction-free gender customization options

The update to the 2014 simulation game lets users dress their sims in any way they want without the previous gender rules in place.

EA's Sims 4 is getting an update that removes the gender restrictions for creating and dressing up its game characters, allowing users to dress up their Sims any way they like now. The update also lets users create Sims with any body shape, walking style and voice regardless of the gender.

In a blog post on the game's site announcing the new changes, game developer Maxis said that "The Sims is made by a diverse team for a diverse audience, and it's really important to us that players are able to be creative and express themselves through our games."

According to Mashable. the update reportedly took a year to make, as developers needed to make sure over 700 items got adapted to fit different body types. The Sims 4 update is currently available now.
