Infinity Blade, an upcoming iOS game with incredible graphics, has created a lot of buzz lately with its Unreal Engine. Now it looks like the first Android game built on the same engine will be out before Christmas.

Dungeon Defenders: First Wave is a graphically advanced RPG/tower-defence game running on the Unreal Engine 3. An iOS version is definitely in the works, which could run on the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, as well as the iPad.

As far as Android is concerned, Dungeon Defenders is only supposed to be running on devices with a Tegra 2 chipset -- Nvidia's next-generation platform soon to appear on the LG Optimus Pad and Motorola Olympus.

But in a statement from developer Trendy Entertainment, it appears those who have a newer Android phone will be able to join in the fun: "It's coming to all iOS devices 3GS and up, and most OpenGL ES2.0 capable Android devices."

This would indicate that models like the Samsung Galaxy S, HTC Desire and anything with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor will be able to run the game. This is good news for the Android faithful, who may have been looking at games like Rage HD and Infinity Blade with envy.

The premise of Dungeon Defenders is pretty cool, with shades of Harry Potter: Years 1-4. You're a young apprentice, belonging to the wizard, hunter, monk or knight class. You've been left in charge of the castle by your elders and, as kids do, you've become bored. Instead of quietly amusing yourself with Lego, you accidentally unleash a dormant evil.

The graphics are really spectacular, presenting a cartoonish World of Warcraft kind of environment. Below is a video of how it will look on your mobile or tablet.

So it looks like Android gamers can finally join their iPhone counterparts in some graphically intense gaming. Dungeon Defenders: First Wave is expected in mid-December for a couple of pounds. Excited? Or are you content with your Angry Birds?
