Drone turns evil in this parody horror movie trailer

A store-bought drone becomes sentient and sets out for blood in this parody trailer for "The Drone." Is this our future?

Warning: the video above contains mild gore, so please watch at your own discretion.

Drones are supposed to be fun. You take them out and fly them around as a hobby, or maybe play a game of soccer using a drone as a ball, and have a jolly good time. But what happens when drones turn evil?

That's the premise behind this new parody trailer for "The Drone," a fictional horror movie about a killer drone set loose on the world. The trailer was created by Jordan Rubin, a writer, actor and director who has written for shows like "Last Call with Carson Daly" and "Crank Yankers," and directed the absurd-sounding movie "Zombeavers," which I'm totally putting on my to-watch list.

In the clip, a woman buys her husband a drone to celebrate the purchase of their new house in a peaceful neighborhood. But the drone eventually becomes self-aware and sets out on a mission to terrorize or kill anything in its path. There's a good amount of mayhem in the trailer, and the result is a promotional clip for a movie that looks like it'd be worth watching if you like horror flicks.

Of course, at one point the narrator boldly declares the house a no-fly zone, because there's no way you can make a drone horror movie without making that joke. Check out the trailer in full at the top of this post, then be careful the next time you activate your drone. It might just turn on you.
