Beer parody urges 'Murica to drink up

Anheuser-Busch is replacing Budweiser with the word America on its cans until November. Saugatuck Brewing Company is following suit with a satirical brew.

As much as we'd love to taste freedom, Saugatuck Brewing Company isn't actually making 'Murica beer.

Companies love to cash in on American patriotism. Last week, Anheuser-Busch said it will repackage Budweiser cans with the label "America" from May 23 through November's election season.

Now, Michigan's Saugatuck Brewing Company is poking fun at Anheuser-Busch's flag-waving campaign with one of its own.

"We're here to make beer named after America great again," Saugatuck Brewing Company posted on Facebook on Wednesday. "We're very proud to introduce our brand new name and packaging, along with the assurance that all of our beer is brewed under the careful watch of 1,776 bald eagles."

"This ensures that every drop of our beer is as true and honest as our forefathers before us," Saugatuck Brewing Company added. "Unlike other 'America' beers, our brewery is completely American owned. What does it taste like, you ask? Freedom. It tastes like Freedom. Drink American, drink Saugatuck Brewing Company."

Sadly, beer lovers won't be able to pop a tab and taste freedom for real. Saugatuck Brewing Company is not actually putting the beer into production.

"This beer, 'Murica, was and is a piece of satire meant to bring a few laughs, have a little fun and express a little creativity," Saugatuck Brewing Company posted in the Facebook post comments on May 12. "We do not intend on ever making this an actual beer. We do not have 1,776 Bald Eagles at the brewery (but how cool would that be?). We love America, we love all beer, we love to have a good time."

Cheers, Saugatuck Brewing Company.
