Very few details have been revealed about the next chapter in the Dragon Age series, although it is known that it will run on a new game engine that uses EA's Frostbite 2.

In a press release, Aaryn Flynn, general manager of BioWare Edmonton and BioWare Montreal, said:

Weve been poring over player feedback from past games and connecting directly with our fans. They haven't held back, so we're not either. With Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, we want to give fans what they're asking for: a great story with choices that matter, a massive world to explore, deep customisation and combat that is both tactical and visceral.

Dragon Age 2 was criticised in some circles for simplifying the RPG elements of Dragon Age: Origins, taking away thing like inventory management and changing how dialogue was used, especially in side quests.

We'll have more information regarding the platform, story and characters as they come to hand.
