Down Beat taps Listen for jazz service

Listen.com says it has signed Down Beat magazine, a prominent jazz publication, as a distributor of its Rhapsody music subscription service. Listen.com is competing with the better-known MusicNet and Pressplay, each of which is backed by major record labels, in the nascent online music-subscription plan market. While the more prominent two have signed with major partners including Yahoo, MSN and AOL, Listen.com is largely seeking Internet service providers as distribution partners for Rhapsody. Listen.com will create a jazz-specific service for Down Beat, which will cost $7.50 a month for unlimited access to a 25,000-track library of songs.
