What could be better than the smell of a loaf of bread baking? The answer is as simple as it is obvious: the smell of two loaves of bread baking. Yet, in home kitchens everywhere, there is a major stumbling block hindering this wonderful and enticing experience. Alas, the bread machine can only handle one loaf at a time. The answer, again, is as simple as it is obvious: use two bread-making machines. Or just double down on one.

The Cooks Essentials Dual 1 lb. Bread Maker w/12 Programmed Settings ($99) is a double-barreled bread maker that can bake two loaves at a time. Capable of automatically producing 11 different breads or doughs (basic, French, sweet, wheat, pizza, dough, bagel, cake, bake, quick, pasta), the countertop appliance also can make jam to go with the bread of choice. But that might be considered wasting a bread-making slot.

Choosing which bread to bake no longer has to be a commitment. The ability to bake a loaf of white bread on one side of the machine and a wheat loaf on the other gives the ability to satisfy bread-lovers no matter their loaf of choice. Of course even with five modes, a keep-warm function and audible alerts, the bread maker is still outshined by its one true purpose: to supply a perpetual procession of fresh bread; eat one loaf while the other is baking and then repeat.
