Some things in life shouldn't require a don't-try-this-at-home warning. Purposefully destructive YouTube user TechRax's recent video titled "Secret Hack to Get Headphone Jack on the iPhone 7" is one of these things. TechRax posted the footage on Saturday and it already has over 3.4 million views.
The video is a straight-faced joke in the form of a tutorial on adding a headphone input to your jack-less iPhone 7 by inserting it into a vice and then plowing a hole into the bottom using a power drill. Metal curls go flying and TechRax completes the gag by pretending to play music through the new jack.
There are some desperate-sounding YouTube comments from people who claimed to have followed TechRax's instructions, but it's hard to tell if they're serious or just playing along with the joke. Let's hope it's all in good fun.
Perhaps what's more interesting here is that the iPhone appears to have survived the surgery and remained functional. It's one of the weirder torture tests you will ever see.
TechRax has a lengthy history of tormenting Apple products, including bathing an iPhone in hot melted crayons and crushing an Apple Watch with magnets.
