Software maker Documentum released a new version on Monday of its eRoom collaboration software. Documentum, which specializes in content management applications that help companies catalog and reuse various types of documents, entered the collaboration software market recently with the acquisition of specialty software maker eRoom.

Version 7 of the main eRoom application includes new project management functions that help workers track tasks and milestones in a company project. Collaboration functions can also be tied to a document, so that the latest version is automatically pushed out to all workers involved in a project, and the proper collaboration environment is ready to go whenever a document is accessed.
