DoCoMo: 3G system bugs exterminated
NTT DoCoMo told reporters Thursday that it has solved most of the problems that forced the Japanese carrier to delay from May until October the launch of what was supposed to be the world's first third-generation telephone network. Instead of launching the network, NTT decided to do a trial run with more than 1,000 network users. The company said in a press conference that with two months left to go in the trial, the rate of successful connections between handsets and network improved from 50 percent in May to about 90 percent. It also said many of the bugs in the software-laden handsets have been ironed out.
