The top 10 'Star Wars' sidekicks, ranked. Who should be No. 1?

The editorial staff of StarWars.com is out with another episode of "The StarWars.com 10," revealing their 10 favorite "Star Wars" sidekicks. Shockingly, Jar Jar Binks madea the list, okee day?

Is the droid R2-D2 or the Wookiee Chewbacca the best sidekick in the "Star Wars" universe? The editorial staff at StarWars.com decided to settle the debate once and for all.

The team posted a new video in its "The StarWars.com 10" YouTube series Thursday revealing the top 10 "Star Wars" sidekicks ranked by personality, loyalty and impact. They focused on sidekicks from the six "Star Wars" films, as well as those from "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" and "Star Wars Rebels." They excluded Jedi and Sith apprentices, as nobody who the Force is strong with should ever be considered a sidekick.

The top 10 produced a few surprises. Most notably was Jar Jar Binks, who, despite being super annoying and a character many "Star Wars" fans love to hate, made the list as the ninth best "Star Wars" sidekick. Maybe if this were a list of the top 10 sidekicks you wish never made it into the "Star Wars" universe that'd make sense, but to be fair that list would be filled exclusively with the wacky gungan.

It will probably come as no surprise to anyone who has seen any of the "Star Wars" movies or TV shows that R2-D2 and Chewie were ranked the top two "Star Wars" sidekicks, but which beloved character came out on top? Check out the video below to find out if R2-D2 beeped and booped his way to the top, or if he wisely took C-3PO's advice and let the Wookiee win.

If I had to vote, I think little Artoo should let the Wookiee win, as Chewie is easily my favorite "Star Wars" sidekick -- I've been known to let out a Wookiee growl or two in frustration, on occasion. Who are your favorite "Star Wars" sidekicks? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
