Discreet, a division of software maker Autodesk specializing in professional animation and video editing tools, announced the release of 3ds max 5, a new version of the company's 3D animation and modeling application. New features include expanded illumination tools for producing lighting effects and a revamped physics engine. The software is scheduled for release this summer priced at $3,495, or $795 for those upgrading from a previous version.
