Dialed In: 137: When it's not about the iPhone

It's all about BlackBerry and Android this week with the release of the RIM BlackBerry Torch and Android 2.2 'Froyo' on the HTC Evo 4G and Motorola Droid.

Kent German Former senior managing editor / features
Kent was a senior managing editor at CNET News. A veteran of CNET since 2003, he reviewed the first iPhone and worked in both the London and San Francisco offices. When not working, he's planning his next vacation, walking his dog or watching planes land at the airport (yes, really).

Believe it or not, we manage to make it through a whole podcast without barely mentioning the iPhone! Sure, it comes up just for a second, but we spend the majority of the time discussing desserts that begin with the letter "H". If anyone at Google is listening, we're down to "Honeycake" or "Hamantash" for the next Android update beyond the forthcoming "Gingerbread" release.

Speaking of Android, we spend time in this episode talking about how Froyo looks on the HTC Evo 4G. Kent thinks it looks great, but no one is pleased that the hot-spot feature won't make it to the Motorola Droid. Bonnie gives the full scoop on the new RIM BlackBerry Torch, which offers the new BlackBerry OS 6. Bonnie's not totally in love, but she thinks it's a good start. Also in this episode, Nicole glows about the LG dLite, Jessica debates the merits of huckleberry as an ingredient while Jason plays ominous music.
