DEMO 96: Toshiba to build palm device

Toshiba will build a version of Pilot, the new palm computing device unveiled by U.S. Robotics yesterday at Demo 96.

INDIAN WELLS, California--Officials from the Palm Computing unit of U.S. Robotics said today that Toshiba America Information Systems will develop and manufacture a version of the Pilot palmtop computer unveiled here at Demo 96.

The Toshiba version of Pilot will include custom hardware, software, and packaging and will become part of the company's Noteworthy line of accessories. Toshiba's Noteworthy line focuses on providing add-ons for the company's notebook computers.

Pilot will be priced around $150.
