The trolls have won again. Another celebrity has decided to take a timeout from social media, albeit an extremely short one.

Singer and actress Demi Lovato tweeted Monday that she is quitting Twitter and Instagram after questioning why people who don't like what she has to say follow her on the popular social-media platforms.

When you have over 36.7 million Twitter followers and 40.9 million Instagram followers, there are bound to be trolls who respond with unkind things to say on a daily basis.

"Why do people actually give a f*** what I say?" Lovato tweeted. "Like if you don't care the gtfo haha."

While Lovato didn't mention a specific reason why she decided to take a break from Twitter and Instagram, she did mention critics of her charity Be Vocal that addresses mental health issues such as bipolar disorder, anxiety and depression. Lovato has been very open about her own mental health struggles in interviews and her 2013 self-help book "Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year."

"That one time I started my own charity providing mental health care for people who can't afford it and this is what y'all talk about," Lovato tweeted.

Her frustration could also stem from being outspoken on social media about other celebrities like Mariah Carey, whom she accused of being "nasty" to another celebrity, Jennifer Lopez.

Lovato didn't name names or point fingers at specific followers, but she clearly isn't going to stick around to be abused by online trolls.

Fans who still want to follow Lovato can still find her on Snapchat at theddlovato.

"I like snapchat cause I don't have to see what some of y'all say," Lovato tweeted. "Follow me if you want: theddlovato."

UPDATE: As of 7pm PT Tuesday, Lovato returns to Twitter with the tweets "F-- this.. I'm back bitches. And I'm coming back more honest than ever;" and "I love my Lovatics too much to leave them over some lame ass haters. What was I thinking?!"
