Susan Sheskey, who was named interim CIO following Randy Mott's departure to rival Hewlett-Packard last month, is keeping the post, according to Dell. She'll report to CEO Kevin Rollins as part of the Round Rock, Texas-based computer maker's inner circle of executives.

Sheskey previously served as Dell's vice president of information technology for the Americas region, where she was responsible for the systems behind global sales, manufacturing, fulfillment, services, procurement, data warehousing, finance and human resources.

A 12-year veteran of Dell, Sheskey had previously worked on Ameritech's corporate and services functions and at Ohio Bell.

The new CIO's pay package was not disclosed, but the company's latest fiscal 2005 statement showed the lowest salary earned by the five highest-paid executives was $522,000.

Mott had been wooed by HP brass with a compensation package worth an estimated $15.3 million, including a base salary of $690,000.
