Dell offers new Red Hat Linux

Dell said Monday it has begun to offer Red Hat Linux 7.2 on all of its PowerEdge and Precision workstations. Dell has offered previous versions of Red Hat Linux on its servers and workstations, although the company eliminated Linux as a factory installed option earlier this year. The new version of Red Hat Linux came out in October. Linux, a clone of Unix, competes with Microsoft's Windows and Sun Microsystems' Solaris, among other products. Several companies sell the operating system, but Red Hat has the largest share of the market, according to IDC.
