Dell Crystal display: It's well glassy

We think we've fallen in love with Dell's new 22-inch display. Who were we to know that tempered glass could be so damn attractive?

If the Alienware Curved Display is a little too mental for your tastes, then check out the new Dell Crystal -- a 22-inch monitor that's seven different types of sexy. Just look at the thing!

The idea is simple but effective. Dell's taken a slimline 22-inch panel, set it in tempered glass, attached a metallic tripod for a stand, then sat back and watched as the Crave journos drool like slack-jawed yokels.

The monitor has a pair of integrated speakers, which sit inside the glass panel. They're finished with a chrome effect and even their accompanying cabling has been made to look like a crucial part of the overall styling.

Speaking of cables, there's only one that emerges from the rear. This manages to serve as a DVI, HDMI, subwoofer-out, USB and power line (with a splitter at the other end), meaning you won't need to have multiple wires dangling out of the back. Some funky touch-sensitive buttons round off what is an exceptionally good looking monitor.

The panel runs at 1,680x1,050 pixels, has a 2ms response time, and there's a 2-megapixel webcam integrated into the top of the unit. It's available to buy right now, with prices starting at $1,199 (£600). Watch for a full review soon. -Rory Reid
