Deleted mall scene is everything X-Men Apocalypse should have been

It needed 200 percent more Jubilee, though.

There's a reason the hype for DC's "Suicide Squad" shot through the roof: it looked like it might just remember that superhero movies can be fun. Whether or not it hit that goal is another matter -- but it did show that there's definitely room in the genre for a lot more light-hearted silliness than we're currently getting.

Cue this deleted scene from X-Men: Apocalypse, a superhero film that gave a grim-and-gritty makeover to possibly the most colourful decade of the 20th century, the 1980s. In it we see the teenage Jean Grey (Phoenix), Scott Summers (Cyclops), Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler) and Jubilee hanging around the mall, a montage of 80s awesomeness set to Safety Dance.

Scenes like this are often cut for length, since they don't necessarily contribute significantly to the story, but if someone made an entire movie about teenage X-Men doing superpower things in the mall, we'd so watch that. Especially if we got to see Jubilee busking with her powers and dodging security guards, as per her origin story.
