Start-up Danger said on Monday that the next version of its software for Hiptop wireless devices has passed compatibility tests with Sun Microsystems' Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME).
The new version allows older J2ME applications to work with the Hiptop software, which Palo Alto, Calif.-based Danger plans to release later this year. Danger and Java developers will continue to create programs specifically for the Hiptop. The updated software should make more content available to owners of the device.
